Hyperspectral images capture electromagnetic radiation over hundreds of narrow and adjacent spectral bands, providing a unique spectral signature for each object observed. Compared to traditional imagery, they allow for much more detailed analysis for distinguishing between plant species, agricultural crops, and algal communities, or for detecting critical environmental conditions, such as areas subject to vegetative stress, asbestos-cement roofing, and the presence of pollutants or contaminants.
